Professional Register

Are you a professional, perhaps recently retired or otherwise available for short-term project work, who can offer specialist skills to the Council on a short term basis?

How does it work?

The professional register, run by HR Services, provides temporary staff in specialist areas to support Council business needs.

Placements can be of varying duration for up to six months and varying hours, dependent on the needs of the business.

There are not necessarily high levels of work available so we cannot guarantee you work if you register.

How do I register?

To register, please go to the job advert and press 'Apply for this Job'. You will complete an online application form, and your details will then be added to a secure database from which our managers can select suitable candidates. For assistance please call 01202 633446 or email temps@poole.gov.uk

How will I be contacted?

The Manager of the placement will contact you directly to invite you to attend an interview, so please ensure your let us know if your contact details change. Please bring evidence of your right to work in the UK to the interview.

On commencement of employment, you will be issued with a casual contract, which gives you flexibility to work within any appropriate Service Unit across the whole council.

How much will I be paid?

Your hourly rate will be commensurate with the duties and responsibilities being undertaken and in line with Pay Equality guidelines.  Payment is made by your completion of a timesheet and paid on a monthly basis.

Please note: We do not pay “day rates” through the professional register and 'Special rates' (such as consultancy rates) cannot be negotiated.
