Community Engagement Officer for the HLF Discovery Project

7 month contract (with the option to extend), full time

We have a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills to play a key role in the development of the exciting new Discovery Project at Upton Country Park. Working closely with the Project Officer, you will contribute to the successful completion of a Round two application to the Heritage Lottery Fund and BIG Lottery Fund, a £2m project to restore and enhance the Country Park.

We are looking for someone who will use their initiative and strong interpersonal skills to help drive the project forward, taking the lead role in the preparation and completion of a wide-reaching activity plan, with the assistance of an external consultant, to provide new opportunities for volunteering, participation and community involvement in the project events and activities.

Being a key player in the ongoing consultation process, it is essential for the successful candidate to have the confidence and ‘can-do’ attitude to develop close links and consult with key stakeholders at Upton Country Park including our Friends group, partners and volunteers. Experience of working closely with local residents and community groups is essential in order to build the positive relationships required for achieving our ambitious targets of volunteering and engagement.

A working knowledge within a heritage or open space environment would be beneficial, ideally with experience of writing strategy documents.

Flexible hours would be available for this post for the right candidate but some weekend and evening work is to be expected. If you would feel that you have the skills to fulfil this role and would be keen to be part of our dedicated small team at Upton Country Park, we would welcome your application. There would be the potential to extend this contract subject to the funding and performance.

For an informal chat about the post, please call Cath Morford on 01202 261365.
