The Borough of Poole has a valuable, diverse and unique environment that forms part of the larger conurbation of Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch. The Borough sits within an area of internationally renowned landscape with its unique blend of urban spaces, historic areas, natural landscape and vibrant coastline. The wider area as a whole has an important natural and built heritage that is largely protected by approximately 1300 Tree Preservation Orders and 21 Conservation Areas.
The Council is building a reputation for vigorously supporting the new design and place making agenda and recognises the importance of promotion of local character and distinctiveness through tree retention, provision of quality landscaping and sustainable tree planting as a corporate priority.
This is a fantastic and creative opportunity for a qualified arboriculturalist with appropriate local authority experience to join a dedicated team and make a positive impact on the environmental quality of this unique area. The role involves review of existing tree preservation orders and dealing with applications, advice to development control, applicant’s and agents, assisting other departments and promotion and enhancement of the green infrastructure.
Candidates should have specialist arboricultural experience, especially in tree related planning issues, development control, urban forestry, enforcement and natural environment projects.
For an informal discussion please contact Andy Osborne, Senior Arboricultural Officer on 01202 633348.
